Terms of Use.

Use of this website is governed by these terms, the Privacy Policy, and any posted guidelines.

Section 1

Purpose & Mission

The Orthoplastic Limb Preservation Society (“OLPS”) operates as a professional organization advancing clinical, research, and educational efforts in limb preservation and orthoplastic surgery. The Site facilitates professional collaboration, patient inquiries, and charitable support. All content serves informational and educational purposes only, not as medical advice.

Acceptance of Terms

By using the Site, you consent to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any posted guidelines. OLPS may amend Terms at any time; updates become effective upon posting.

Section 3

Eligibility

Users must be at least 18 years old. You represent that all submitted information is truthful, current, and complete.

Section 4

Membership, Applications & Fees

  • Member-only areas require OLPS membership acceptance.
  • Applications require non-refundable fees regardless of outcome.
  • OLPS retains sole discretion to accept or deny membership.
  • Membership creates no employment, agency, or partnership relationship.
Section 5

Payment Terms

  • Fees must be paid through the Site’s secure payment system.
  • Application fees remain non-refundable.
  • Membership fees are billed as described during checkout.
  • OLPS bears no responsibility for third-party processor errors or unauthorized transactions.
Section 6

Donations & Charitable Contributions

  • Donations support OLPS’s educational, clinical, and research initiatives.
  • Donations are non-refundable and confer no membership, influence, or decision-making rights.
  • Funds support research, education, clinical collaboration, outreach, and resource development.
  • OLPS is not currently a registered nonprofit entity (unless and until official 501(c)(3) status is confirmed).
  • Donations may not be tax deductible; email receipts are provided.
  • Donors cannot impose conditions on fund use unless expressly agreed in writing.
  • OLPS may redirect designated contributions if funds become unavailable.
Section 7

Intellectual Property Rights

OLPS owns all Site content (text, images, graphics, videos, documents, logos), protected by copyright and trademark law. Personal, educational, non-commercial access and downloading are permitted. The following are prohibited:

  • Reproducing, distributing, or modifying OLPS content without written permission
  • Using OLPS trademarks or imagery for endorsement or advertising
  • Mirroring or scraping portions of the Site
Section 8

User-Generated Content

Contributors retain ownership of posts and case discussions but grant OLPS a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, and distribute such content for educational and research purposes. Users warrant that they hold full rights to content; have obtained necessary patient consents; and comply with applicable laws and professional ethics. OLPS reserves the right to remove or restrict content.

Section 9

Professional Conduct

Users must maintain professionalism. Prohibited conduct includes defamatory, harassing, or discriminatory statements; sharing confidential patient or institutional information; misrepresenting identity or credentials; and commercial solicitation or spam. Violations may result in membership or access suspension or termination.

Section 10

HIPAA Compliance & Patient Consent

Members must comply with HIPAA and applicable state privacy laws. Patient data within forums must be de-identified. Identifiable cases require written patient consent using OLPS’s Patient Consent Form. OLPS assumes no responsibility for user HIPAA or privacy law violations. Users must maintain signed consent copies.

Section 11

Confidentiality

Member discussions and case exchanges remain private and confidential. Unauthorized sharing, screenshots, or redistribution of OLPS member content is prohibited.

Section 12

Patient Submissions & Referral Requests

Patients or representatives may voluntarily submit information (condition, location, medical history) requesting provider referrals. By submitting, you acknowledge that:

  • Submission is voluntary and may include personal or health information.
  • It is not for emergencies — call 911 or visit an emergency facility for urgent symptoms.
  • No doctor-patient relationship is created with OLPS or affiliated providers.
  • OLPS may share information with medical professionals for referral purposes.
  • OLPS cannot guarantee referrals, endorse providers, or assume responsibility for provider availability, outcomes, or actions.
  • OLPS may use anonymized data for educational or research reporting.
  • You consent to limited data use and transmission under these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
Section 13

Patient Information

Site materials may involve Patient Information. Users must comply with all retrieval, transmission, and disclosure laws; obtain and maintain required consents; use information solely for legitimate educational or referral purposes; and accept sole responsibility for use, misuse, or storage. OLPS disclaims liability for user confidentiality or privacy law violations.

Privacy Policy

Use of the Site is governed by the Privacy Policy, which describes OLPS’s collection, use, and safeguarding of personal and health information. Use of the Site constitutes consent to OLPS data practices.

Third-Party Links

The Site may link to third-party websites or tools. OLPS does not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for third-party content, services, accuracy, availability, or privacy policies.

Educational & Clinical Disclaimer

All OLPS content is for educational and informational purposes only. OLPS provides no medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment; Site content should never substitute for professional medical judgment.

Disclaimers of Warranties

The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” OLPS disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy, reliability, or suitability for a particular purpose.

Section 18

Limitation of Liability

OLPS, its officers, directors, affiliates, and members bear no liability for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from Site use, donations, membership, or referral activities. Total liability shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total amount paid in the preceding twelve months, or (b) $100.

Section 19

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless OLPS, its officers, employees, members, and affiliates from claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Site, your submissions, or violations of these Terms.

Section 20

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by Maryland state law without application of conflict-of-law principles. Disputes are resolved through negotiation, then mediation, and finally binding arbitration in Baltimore County, Maryland, under American Arbitration Association rules. You waive jury trial and class-action participation rights.

Section 21

Changes to the Site

OLPS reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any portion of the Site, including member areas, forms, or donation features, without notice.

Section 22

Severability & Entire Agreement

Invalid provisions do not affect the remaining Terms. These Terms together with the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and OLPS.
